Agedashi Tofu

Agedashi tofu is made of tofu of course.. and it’s a very simple dish .. that is a little crispy on the outside.. and very soft on the inside. But be careful.. it’s very hot. Using firm silken tofu, cut them into cubes and lightly dusting them with corn starch and then deep frying it for a second. The tofu is then served with hot tentsuyu broth made of dashi, mirin and sho yu .. a type of japanese soya sauce.. topped with finely chopped spring onions and grated daikon. Great for eating alone or with some ramen.

Geisha

Geisha .. one wonders if they still exist..?? yes, they certainly do.. and i’ve seen a few.. when i was in Japan.  Geishas are fascinating women .. and in this day and time…  you wouldn’t think that they would survive this trade.. but they do.  It is often mistaken that Geishas are just high class prostitute, so are they really..??  It is said that Geishas only entertains.. in banquets.. and perform traditional Japanese arts.   They are trained when they are really young.. and the training is said to be hard and rigid.  I’ve often wonder why they paint their faces the way they do.

Japanese Anime

I started watching Japanese Anime again.  It has been so long since i watched one.  I remember loving it so much .. when i was younger.. my mum thought i would marry a japanese for sure.  These days.. with closed captioning, anyone can watch any japanese shows.. be it anime or not.   And I’ll have to say that the japanese actors and actresses are really good looking.

Wasabi

If you see a little green stuff with your japanese food.. especially in your sashimi and sushi.. don’t get over zealous when you try them the first time. Because wasabi .. is like the chilli sauce of the japanese. It is actually made outta horse radish with other ingredients .. and as soon as you put them in your mouth with some sushi or sashami.. it goes straight up into your nasal passage.. it takes a minute or two.. to pass. Most japanese and anyone eating japanese food.. loves a little wasabi in their food.. i am not any different .. and although i can take very spicy food.. i wouldn’t wanna take alot of wasabi.

Keeping Slim The Japanese Way

If you noticed .. the japanese are never fat.  I seriously think that it has to do with the diet .. they are on.  The Japanese .. whether you are young, old or middle age.. they all eat alot of fish.  I know of some who would lined up in stores.. to get the freshest fish.  I bet it is all the sashimi and sushi that they are eating.. that are keeping them so fit and slim.  As for those of us.. who doesn’t get sashimi or sushi.. i guess we just have to take diet pills for the rest of our lives eh.

Cold Noodles – Zaru Soba

Zaru Soba is a kind of cold noodles made of buckwheat.  It is chilled .. and you dipped them into a sauce .. and eat them.  The soya and vinegar sauce .. is potent..!  if you are not careful.. it goes up straight to your nose.. and sends you choking.

I didn’t think i would love Zaru soba this much .. but some 20 years ago.. when i first tried it.. i was hooked immediately.  Zaru soba is not only healthy.. it is easy on the stomach. If you haven’t tried it.. you should.

Takahasi San’s Accounting Job

I kid you not but my internal auditor for the hotel i used to work for was a nice Japanese man. Takahasi-san used to tell me how tough it was for him to find a job in a foreign country where else jobs in Japan were even tougher because there were so many people eyeing the same job as he was.

I’ve always thought that accountants and people in the finance professionals were boring people but it is not so because Takahashi-san was anything but. Finding the right job was important.. but finding the right employer was equally important if not more. Not wanting to not match what the employer wanted with regards to his current or up to date skills, a place like Accounting Jobs Today is a great place to start if you are looking for a job in this field or for employers looking for the right employee. Accounting job descriptions must be explored and studied before you embark in seeking for a job. Besides other professionals sharing ideas and tips, information and resources can be found at Accounting Jobs Today.

Getting a job is not hard.. but getting the right job or the right employee, now that can be tricky. So why go on a wild goose chase, when you don’t have to.

Sumo Wrestler

Japanese Sumo Wrestling is one of the oldest martial arts in Japan. It is such a popular spot in Japan and considered the national sport. The sumo wrestlers are treated with alot of respect. Most elite wrestlers are highly trained athletes and between 20 to 35 years old. Besides working out, the wrestlers are eating large amounts of food and go to bed right after eating in order to gain mass. The wrestlers are living in special sumo stables where the rules are very strict, especially for lower ranked wrestlers. A sumo wrestling match is accompanied by a lot of traditional ceremony. The marching-in of the wrestlers is a sequence of formal rituals. The wrestlers are accompanied by two assistants – one walking in front and one behind him – the one behind is usually hard to spot. The referee is clad in a luxurious kimono and wears a strange hat. After performing a series of opening rituals, the contest begins.

The wrestling match is all about pushing or throwing the opponent out of the doyo – the ring – or to bring the other guy down on the floor. Sumo does not know any weight categories. There are a few basic techniques – from pulling the opponents legs to grabbing his belt and trying to throw or carry the opponent out of the ring.

Maximizing A Small Apartment In Japan

In Japan there are just overly populated and therefore apartments are really small. Most people cannot afford to buy their own houses.. so if they are working in the city, they rent an apartment. With apartments so small, in order to maximize space, speaker mount are used in almost all the apartments I’ve visited. I think it is really a smart thing to do .. don’t you..?
