Spa Hotels Or Onsen

One of the many things i remembered while in Japan for work is the many weekends, we get invited by our co-workers for a weekend in an Onsen. The Shirahone Onsen is one that I remembered well because of its unique white looking water..  that comes from the high amount of caladium and magnesium.  Located in the higher up of the town about 2.5 hrs away from Tokyo by train, this Onsen is so unique with such a huge open space hot spring, they definitely have no need for spring plungers here.  For those who are not aware of this.. hot springs are known to be very good for health, therefore, the japanese flock to an Onsen whenever time permits.

Motor Showroom In Japan

When I was in Tokyo, Japan; a co-worker had insisted that I go test drive some cars.  I wasn’t really interested but little did I know the showroom that I went to in Odaiba .. was huge and truly, I was in awe.  They had so many models.. it was mind boggling.  I did get to test drive the latest sport car there.  I heard that you can get exclusive auto parts from this show room too.

Manga Used By US Navy

Wow..!! that’s news..!  I knew Manga was read and collected by people outside of Japan.. but i didn’t think that it was anything the US government would use it for to promote the US Naval Forces based in Japan.  I heard that the U.S. Navy plans to give away thousand of copies to help dismiss and educate the people in Japan and to eliminate fears and safety concerns.

The manga is named after the carrier’s number CVN73 and it actually tries to show what a young U.S. sailor of Japanese descent, Jack Ohara who is put to task in several mission on this carrier and what he goes thru’ and some of his daily routine. Credits for the manga goes to two Japanese cartoonists.. Hiroshi Kazusa and Harumi Sato.

Annual Sumo Grand Tournament

Sumo or Japanease wresting is a huge thing in Japan.  It is not everyone that can become one nor to be called one.  To be called as a Sumo wrestler, one has to start really young.  If i remembered correctly.. it is in September .. that the Annual Sumo Grand Tournament is held.  Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo was the venue i had been to.. to watch these final wrestling of the year.  I’m no sport enthusiast.. but it was certainly an eye opener.  And if you think fat guys.. donch get pretty girlfriend. then you are so long.  Most of these Sumo wrestler has petite and stunningly beautiful wives an girlfriends.

Taking the JR Sobu Line from Ryogoku station, you only need to walk for about 2 mins to reach Ryogoku Kokugikan

So Is Sushi Really Good For The Health?

I have been eating sushi since i was 16 yrs of age.  Even though i was still in school and not having a lot of pocket money, i still saved up to eat sushi on a month basis.  Everyone I know here in  Canada asked me..if Sushi was really good for the health..and i can assure you that it certainly is.

Not only is sushi full of the good kind of fatty Omega 3-acid in it.. it has a low contents of cholesterol and also low in calories.  Plus we all know that fish is always good irregardless whether they are cooked or raw.  Many ppl in the west are quite reluctant to eat sushi because it is raw and they are worried of food poisoning.  For all the years that i had been eating sushi.. not once was i given bad fish .. or had food poisoning or diarrhea, so there you have it from my point of view.  If i could have sushi everyday, i would..!

Crazy Over Ayumi Hamasaki

I know . .you must be thinking.. if i’m everything into Japanese stuff.. how come i never write about Ayumi Hamasaki right..??  Well.. it’s not that i don’t want to write about her.. .it’s just that she is so famous already.. there is not many people who don’t know her.  Plus i know that all my japanese friends.. already has her music, dvd.. and any performance she was in.  But for the benefit of those who don’t know here.. here is the concert she had .. not too long ago. Enjoy…!

Microwaveable Hello Kitty Bento Box

I haven’t seen very many microwaveable bento boxes at all.. so when i saw that this Glitter Hello Kitty Bento is microwaveable .. i quickly jumped an wanted to buy it.  Alas, they only sell it in Japan.. even though this is an online store. What a bummer..!!!  At $16 .. not cheap at all.. but i would still buy it .. since it is microwaveable.. and it’s a Hello kitty brand.

I love the big ribbons locking clips .. they are cute and easy to use and keeps the food inside air tight.  I would have loved to have a double tier bento but they do have removable dividers to keep different food separated and it’s very useful. I am worried about the glitter.. because usually things with glitter loses it shiny self.. after a while.. thus making the bento .. look really old.  Great for a lunch box for small eaters like my kid.

Tokyo, DisneyLand’s Food

There were so much to choose from to eat when we were at Tokyo Disneyland.  All of them were so cutely presented..!  even i cannot resist it.  And if you have been to any Disneyland, you know you just can’t seems to finished all the rides and try out different games.  We did eat alot there.. and food wasn’t cheap either.  But we figured .. we were only gonna be there once .. so we might as well try everything.  This was a hamburger, mickey mouse style.

Isn’t this cute..! i know kids fussy with food would eat even this.  So Disney like.

A late snack .. at about 5pm.. and still we haven’t finished visiting the whole of Disneyland, Tokyo.  But we stayed behind for the evening parade.  The afternoon parade was great.. ! but the evening ones.. were spectacular..!  But that’s for another day.  At the end of the day.. and the amount of food we ate, you know who needs to look for some diet pills when we get home.

Tokyo, Your Electronic Paradize

Tokyo is electrifying..!  i’m sure you’ve heard this before.  But seeing is believing the neon lights can blind you.  They have the latest electronics that you can think of for sale and if you lived in Japan or on holiday in Japan, look out for the sales on the last model of electronic products .. because they go on about 50% discount i hear.  But one thing i’ll have to warn you .. is they may only be in Japanese language and even Japanese keyboards for your notepad.

Tea Ceremony

Tea ceremony is an art in Japan and it is said… that every japanese girl must learn all about tea ceremony .. and be able to serve this to their in-laws. A lady served us tea and i heard it takes many years to learn all about tea ceremony.

First a tea bowl is gotten ready.. the pattern of the bowl is the gingko leaves/symbol of the Urasenke Sect. How much powder should be added in the bowl is an art and the most difficult task.. and it takes skill.

Green powder being put into the bowl.

A snack/Japanese dessert before the tea.

This is actually a summer dessert and they usually served it with just a Japanese dessert paper. The fish like dessert is meant for summer time, it has red bean paste in it.. and citron jelly used as the bone. Smells really nice. .and taste better. Yummy..!
